Tina was facing death by electrocution on three different charges of murder, each carrying the death penalty.
She knew she had no help from her public defender.
Scared and with nowhere to turn, after having been in jail for over 2 and 1/2 years, Tina signed the plea just seven days before her trial was to begin.
All of this is what truly happened on April 14, 1992, the day that Amber died. These are Tina's words, as quoted in a phone interview conducted by one of Tina's friends and supporters Thomas Cooney.

Tina is presently serving her sentence at Pulaski State Prison in Georgia.
We, her supporters and friends, feel that Tina is innocent of the crimes she has remained imprisoned for, for 15 and 1/2 years.
Tina was at work when her little girl died.
Tina told the truth and she continues to do so, whenever asked what happened on that fateful day.
Her story has never changed a bit.
Tina even passed a polygraph test indicating her innocence less than 24 hours before her sentencing.
The man whom Tina left Amber with the day she died, is serving a 20 year sentence in Wilcox State Prison in Georgia for cruelty to children.
His name is David Herrin.
His scheduled release date is 4/14/2012.
David was found not guilty of murder on any of the three counts he was up against.
His trial was 2 months after Tina signed the plea.
We guess that the jury figured if Tina admitted to wrong doing (by accepting the plea), then David was innocent EVEN THOUGH HE HIMSELF STATED THAT TINA WASN'T HOME, SHE WAS AT WORK THAT DAY!
David has never admitted what really happened to Amber the day he was left in charge of her little life...

The medical examiner at David's trial said that Amber died from a blunt force blow to her head which had occurred within 30 minutes of her becoming unconscious. Therefor, obviously, Tina is not at fault for the death of her daughter...

Tina is a sweet, honest woman who was trapped by the GA good ol' boy system. She really needs your help, as a voice, and the help of a lawyer who isnt a smaltz like R. allen, who is willing to fight GA bureacracy. By federal law, Tina's civil rights have been violated a bunch of times, foremost being how the judge and DA ignored Tina's overdrugged condition-for psychoses she never had (documented)-and gleefully accepted her plea bargain that her schmuck lawyer brow beat her into, when he finally showed up, 10 days before trial. If you were told, under the influence of heavy meds., that it didn't matter if you were innocent, you are going to the electric chair if you go to trial, what would you do?

WOW-i canNOT believe this story. I stumbled upon it while reading a completely unrelated story about something on AOL. I am just speechless about this whole case! I keep waiting to read something somewhere that will POP OUT at me & say-here is the proof, this is why she's guily, but I cannot seem to find one SINGLE sentence that even SUGGESTS she might be a guilty child murderer! How in America today is it possible for something like this to happen? I am on the side of skeptisim always but where is the EVIDENCE against her? It seems like there is plenty of EVIDENCE to show innocence but since she is sitting in jail and has been for 16 years, I ask, WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE? I see there are not too many comments on the site and I had never even heard of this case before now which makes me wonder-why such lack of interest from everyone? Is there something that I am missing? Maybe a signed confession, a nanny-cam video, something? Anything?? Aside from the obvious, admitting to a mistake, why aren't the authorities at the very least looking into the possibility of a trial, at the very least?? Fine, they don't want to say ok you're free to go but GIVE THE WOMAN A FAIR TRIAL FOR CHRISTS SAKE!@! Isn't THAT how the law works... innocent UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY??! I guess I can feel for her being that I'm involved in a case of my own with a bunch of "officials" who do NOT want to admit any wrong doing on THEIR part & people tell me every day..isn't there something you can do?? Right after I've explained to them that I have done EVERYTHING but cannot get resolution. Though my "matter" has absolutely NO relevance or NO even remote similarity to this case, I can def understand the frustration she must be going through and wish there was a way to get more people to be aware of it. How about reaching out to colleges/organizations made up of students/people that help lobby for the rights of the wrongly accused/cold cases/appeals of the convicted? There must be someone that can help. Call Oprah. I'm not even kidding. This is something that will not go anywhere without public pressure, unfortunately. Are they afraid of her b/c of her "special" background? SHE NEEDS TO BE GIVEN A FAIR TRIAL AT THE VERY LEAST & THATS ONLY, IF, AFTER AN UNBIASED REVIEW OF HER "DUE PROCESS", IT IS FOUND THAT SHE SHOULD EVER HAVE BEEN ACTUALLY CHARGED AT ALL...which it seems not from what I've read. Tina, I don't know you but you can be sure that you will be in my thoughts from this day foward & I truly do hope to read one day that YOU get the fairness & equality that each one of us who live in the United States of America are granted by our Constitution!! AS I TYPE there are men & women out there in War that are fighting & DYING to protect the rights afforded to us by our Constitution and you are no exception!!
